Cannes international Film Festival has celebrated its 63rd anniversary this May 2010 with presence of many international celebrities to its credit. The grand Opening Ceremony of the Event was on 12th May, 2010. The Cannes Film Festival was established in 1946. This is the world's oldest, largest and topmost film festival. The President of the Jury for this 63rd Annual Cannes Film Festival is a Tim BURTON.
Every May, the whole population in Cannes rises dramatically as Hollywood comes to town in the form of the Cannes International Film Festival. The world-famous and truly iconic Cannes Film Festival is the city's biggest and brightest event of the year, attracting thousands of spectators, film crews and, of course, large numbers of celebrities and movie stars.
For the rest of the year, there are always things to do in Cannes, with the famous Palais des Festivals playing host too many top trade fairs and festivals. Cannes' Mediterranean location also makes it a popular venue for sailing competitions, regattas and similar events.
Over 12 days, the festival will screen some 21 films from around the world in competition for the Palme D'Or, along with 19 films in the supporting sidebar, Un Certain Regard, and a handful of films in special sessions. Some 40,000 film professionals gather each year at the festival regarded as the prime meeting point for their industry.
