The main cultural event of the city Cannes is the International Film Festival, itwas first held in 1946. The festival progressively grew its size and importance. By the end of 1970s the festival had turn out to be big business, as important for interacting as for awarding the prizes, including the prestigious alme d’Or, and increasingly presenting mainstream Hollywood films.

Since the International Film Festival is reserved for professionals only, the Cannes Festival arranges conferences and broadcasts for film fans. InFestival Outlook, 10 feature films that have won awards in various international festivals compete.
Nightlife:
The nightlife in city of Cannes is the casino. The streets thrill at night, mainly around La Croisette along and la rue Saint Antoine in Le Suquet and la rue du Dr Monod. On the whole, the Cannois like to dress up to go out during the night and festival season but visitors will feel at comfort in anything from evening wearto jeans. Restaurant and bars work until about 0200, casinos remain open until about 0400. The legal age of drinking begins at 16 years of age in Cannes.
